CLEARS Executive Board President

It is an honor to serve as the 2021 CLEARS Executive Board President. I have been an active CLEARS member for 7 years with the Central Coast Chapter and have served on the State Board for the past 5 years. CLEARS offers the benefit of excellent training, the opportunity to network with other records professionals, and access to the legislative process regarding issues important to law enforcement records departments. The wealth of information and years of experience possessed by our members is truly amazing which is the reason I continue to take an active part and the reason I wanted to become your State President.

CLEARS, Inc. is a training organization that was started over 45 years ago with the purpose of assisting Records Professionals get the specialized education and training needed for a successful career in Law Enforcement Records.  Although it was founded by and for Records Supervisors and Managers, the association has grown to include talented associate members that would like to transition into a supervision role, or just be the best Records professional they can be.  Membership draws from Police, Sheriff, State Universities, dispatchers, and various other disciplines.

One of the most valued benefits of CLEARS membership is the opportunity to network with other members throughout the state.  The depth of knowledge combined with the varied pool of experienced CLEARS members is undoubtedly our greatest resource.  I urge you to get involved in CLEARS by participating in our many committees or consider a future opportunity as a Chapter Officer. All active members can get involved so be sure to reach out to current board members to find out more.

CLEARS tracks legislation and partners with our advocates at WPSS Group (Warner, Pank, Salzillo and Sanchez) to help educate and track legislation that affects all law enforcement, specifically those that impact law enforcement records.  New bills are introduced every year and staying on top of all of them and they flow through the legislative process is another way the CLEARS members stay informed.

Take advantage of chapter training meetings and the Annual Training and Technology Seminar.  We are fortunate to have a variety of trainers that concentrate on supervisory and management skills as well as representatives from the California Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Justice that will show you how to navigate through updates and answer your questions.

If you have any questions about CLEARS or how to get involved, you can also contact me directly at vokeeffe@co.slo.ca.us or (805)781-4546.
